83,000 Pound Tractor Trailer Needs Semi Towing
We love semi towing challenges that are difficult. Last week, we got a call to move a tractor trailer with 83,000 pounds sitting on one axle. This was a really challenging situation. Two other semi towing companies had already failed.
The U-Bolt had failed on the tractor and much of the weight had shifted to sit onto the single axle. This made managing the load a bit tricky. This weight shift is where the other towing companies failed. We decided to take some pressure of the tractor. This weight shift allowed us to shift the trailer out cleanly. Thanks to all the guys out on the recovery.

Description of Semi Towing on US-281
The customer had called several semi towing companies. None of these companies were able to fix a broken near U-Bolt on their tractor. The Mission Wrecker semi towing team was contacted. The semi towing team from Mission Wrecker traveled to US-281 and Bitters Road in San Antonio. The semi towing team assessed the situation. They found a disabled semi. The rear drive axle U-Bolt was broken and the axle had shifted back. The end dump trailer was heavily loaded with 83,000 pounds sitting on its axle. The semi towing team discussed what to do. The semi towing team decided to disconnect the tractor from the trailer. The semi towing team faced a challenge as there was no landing gear on the trailer. The semi towing team decided to take pressure of the tractor to extract the disabled trailer. The semi towing team then decided to back their tractor under the trailer. Now that the semi towing team had a plan, the took pressure of the tractor. From there, they pulled the trailer out. Next, the semi towing team backed their tractor under the trailer. After the tractor and trailer were disconnected. The semi towing team backed up the heavy wrecker. The semi towing team attached the hooks from the heavy wrecker onto the tractor. The semi towing team attached the first hook. The semi towing team attached the second hook. They winched the tractor closer until they could hook it up securely to the heavy wrecker. From there, they were able to tow the semi/tractor and trailer.
