Heavy Truck Towing for Oil and Gas

Maneuvering in a Small Space for Heavy Truck Towing

On a recent Saturday, we got a call for heavy truck towing when a tractor trailer loaded with 53K lbs of sand rolled over.  This heavy towing job was a tricky one because we didn’t have a lot of room to move. There was a fence and obstacles that prevented heavy truck towing from occurring.

With the tight space, there was just nowhere to put to position the heavy wrecker to lift the heavily loaded trailer.  So, we decided to hire a super sucker vacuum truck to suck the frac sand out of the truck. With a lighter truck we could now use the limited space and lifting power of the heavy wrecker to upright the cab and trailer.

After pulling the trailer and cab out of the ditch, we brought in a vacuum truck that cleaned up the spilled sand. The area looked pristine.  We want to thank our guys for their careful attention to detail.

Details of Heavy Truck Towing

Mission Wrecker got the call to recover a semi and trailer loaded with 53K lbs of sand. Our heavy towing team made their way to the outskirts of San Antonio in oil and gas country.

The heavy truck towing location can be approached from the east from State Highway 119 or SH 119 and State Highway 72 or SH 72. The heavy truck towing location can be approached from the north from State Highway 80 or SH 80 and US 87. The heavy truck towing location can be approached from the south from State Highway 80 or SH 80 and US 181.  The heavy truck towing location can be approached from the west from State Highway 123 or SH 123.

The tractor trailer rolled over in Gillett, TX.. The tractor trailer rolled over about 300 yards away from its final destination at the nearby well site. The tractor trailer rolled over on a narrow one lane oil field road. Upon arrival, we knew we had to unload the tanker due to the narrow road and steep drop off on the side of the road. There was also a fence just off the side of the road creating even more obstacles. We hired a super sucker vacuum truck to pump out the sand of the tanker. After emptying the tanker, we continued with the recovery. First, we connected the trailer to our heavy wrecker with secure towing hooks. The secure towing hooks and attached towing chains were pulled taut.   The heavy truck towing team then swung the trailer back onto the roadway. Next the heavy truck towing team unrighted the tractor trailer. After uprighting, the heavy truck towing team cleaned things up with a vacuum truck. They left the accident site as if it never happened.
