Full-Load Trailer Tip Calls for Dual-Rotator Response
There’s no such thing as a routine rollover when you’re working with over 80,000 pounds of loaded trailer. We got the call about a pig trailer flipped near the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Buckhorn Road. Heavy towing jobs like this one are complex. These pig trailers are built to sit on job sites, not travel the roads fully loaded. So when one tips, there’s no just picking it up and moving on. You’re dealing with a beast of a trailer and a whole lot of weight that doesn’t want to cooperate. With this Wurzbach Parkway trailer recovery, we had our work cut out for us.

What We Rolled Out for the Job
We brought out Truck 360—our 50-ton rotator—and Truck 361, a 35-ton rotator. Along with those, we used a tandem axle trailer dollie. We had everything we needed to execute a clean Wurzbach Parkway trailer recovery. Two of our crew members were on-site, each fully trained in heavy-duty recovery.
Setting the Stage for a Safe Recovery
First, we placed the trailer dollie on its side and connected it to the fifth wheel plate of the rolled-over trailer. That might seem like an unusual first move, but here’s why: If we’d tried to roll that pig trailer without it, the landing gear would’ve buckled under the stress. The dollie gave us a pivot point: strong, stable, and able to take the force of the roll.
We rigged both rotators next. One on each side of the load. The 50-ton rotator got positioned on the top side for a reverse roll. That meant it would take the brunt of the lift and flip. The 35-ton rotator stayed low, pulling from the wheel side to help control the motion and stabilize the trailer as it came back upright.

A Recovery in Motion
The roll itself was textbook. The trailer came up slow and steady, no jerks, no surprises. That’s exactly how we want it. When you’re lifting a trailer that size with a full load, anything less than complete control is a recipe for disaster. We kept our angles tight, our lines clean, and our communications constant.
The trailer came back to its wheels without a scratch and was fully operable when we were done. No damage to the vehicle. No leaking material. And no extra towing required. Just 2 hours and 15 minutes from the time we arrived until we wrapped up and cleared the scene.
Why Pig Trailer Recoveries Are a Whole Different Game
Pig trailers aren’t like your typical over-the-road tankers. They often sit loaded with tens of thousands of pounds of bulk material. That weight shifts differently. It settles. It holds onto the ground like it’s got roots. These trailers are massive. Especially compared to what most people think of when they picture a tanker. Longer, wider, and loaded in ways that change the center of gravity. That’s why it’s critical to treat them differently in any Wurzbach Parkway trailer recovery.
