Heavy Duty Towing Required for Sticky Melon Spill

Heavy Duty Towing Team Needed for Overturned Melon Truck

It appears that Mission Wrecker is becoming no stranger to heavy duty towing jobs necessitated by melon spills. Recently, we were at it again, providing assistance for a trailer rollover that made a mess of the fruit. Thankfully, this is a heavy duty towing recovery we’ve seen before and are comfortable handling.

Mission Wrecker received a call for heavy duty towing help for a trailer rollover. We immediately dispatched a team to recover the truck and clean up the mess. Upon our arrival at the scene, Mission Wrecker was met with a sticky situation.

A trailer loaded to the brim with watermelons and cantaloupes overturned on an elevated bridge deck. The fruit rolled, splattered, and spilled all over the roadway in Downtown San Antonio. After a quick assessment and effective collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation and the San Antonio Fire Department, the heavy duty towing team got to work.

Using a medium duty rollback, we secured the one ton pickup truck. Then, with a fifty ton heavy duty wrecker, we righted the tandem axle gooseneck dump trailer. The Texas Department of Transportation supplied front loaders and a dump truck to collect the loose fruit. Meanwhile, the San Antonio Fire Department scraped the smushed melons off the road and sprayed down the remaining mess to clear the road.

After approximately two hours, the watermelons and cantaloupes were rounded up, the road hosed clean, and traffic reopened. Mission Wrecker demonstrated our learned expertise from the previous watermelon heavy duty towing job. Special thanks goes out to the Texas Department of Transportation and the San Antonio Fire Department for their help.

Next, the heavy duty towing team used a fifty ton heavy duty wrecker to upright the tandem axle gooseneck dump trailer. With ease, the heavy duty towing team had both pieces of the unit back on four wheels. Thankfully for the heavy duty towing team, the Texas Department of Transportation brought in front loaders and a dump truck to collect the watermelons and cantaloupe that had rolled loose. The San Antonio Fire Department helped the heavy duty towing team by scraping the crushed melons from the road and using their hoses to spray the sticky fruit off of the road.
