Heavy Towing Service in Live Oak, TX

Big Blocks and Shifting Load Require Heavy Towing Service in Live Oak, TX

When a massive load goes wrong, Mission Wrecker’s heavy towing service can make things right again. They recently had the opportunity to help a semi whose load shifted and destroyed the trailer, rendering the truck inoperable. With the proper equipment and the best heavy towing service team in the area, we quickly got traffic moving again, completed the tow, and reworked the load.

On Monday, January 6, 2020, Mission Wrecker received a call for heavy towing service on I-35 West in Live Oak, Texas. As it carried twenty 2200lbs lead blocks, a tractor-trailer driver slammed on the brakes to avoid an accident. Originally, the load was cribbed in with boards nailed into the trailer to prevent the load from sliding.

However, with the immense weight and force of braking, three of the blocks became loose, sliding forward and through the nose of the trailer. One went into the cab, becoming lodged in the back wall, while the others made contact with the catwalk and the ground. Fortunately, the driver did not incur any injuries.

Even still, the heavy load created quite a predicament. When they broke through the trailer, the blocks ripped the airline, locking the brakes and making it difficult for Mission Wrecker to complete the job.

First, our heavy towing service team caged the brakes and eased the tractor-trailer off the highway onto an access road. Because of the damage to the trailer and the unsecured load, the truck could not make any turns, adding to the challenge.

Utilizing our fifty-ton wrecker, we picked the truck and trailer up from behind the cab as some of the blocks were still stuck between the tandems. Simultaneously, a medium-duty wrecker pulled the loose blocks out from underneath. Mission’s tractor arrived on scene and hauled the damaged trailer to the shop.

The following day, Mission wrecker reworked the load using a medium-duty flatbed as a mobile dock and a forklift to reload the blocks. Our heavy towing service team sent the truck on its way. With no injuries and a happy client, Mission Wrecker is marking this job as a victory in the books.

Details About Heavy Towing Service for Semi’s Shifted Load

Mission Wrecker received a call on January 6, 2020 for heavy towing service. A tractor-trailer loaded with twenty 2200lbs blocks slammed on brakes to avoid an accident on I-35 West in Live Oak, Texas. While originally cribbed with boards inside the trailer to prevent sliding, the momentum caused three blocks to come loose and propel through the nose of the trailer. The situation required heavy towing service as one block lodged itself into the back of the cab, while the others made contact with the catwalk and ground. Adding to the challenge of offering heavy towing service was the destruction of the airline by the blocks. This locked the brakes, making it difficult for Mission Wrecker’s heavy towing service team to complete the job. With finesse, the heavy towing service team caged the brakes and eased the tractor-trailer off the highway onto an access road. The quick work of the heavy towing service team enabled traffic to open back up on the roadway. Then, with a fifty-ton wrecker, the heavy towing service team lifted the truck and trailer up from behind the cab to free the blocks stuck between the tandems. A medium-duty wrecker pulled the loose blocks out from underneath. Mission Wrecker’s heavy towing service team brought a tractor to the scene and hauled away the damaged trailer to their shop. The next day, the heavy towing service team used a medium-duty flatbed as a mobile dock and a forklift to rework the compromised load. The heavy towing service team placed it in a fresh trailer and sent it on its way. Fortunately, the driver of the semi walked away unscathed and the heavy towing service team completed the job successfully.
